MC David, Draisaitl lead Oilers to high- Scoring Match Win over Senators

Leon Draisaitl was one of assisting away from matching a record held, in a part, by a Canadian icon, and he had no intention. But the German icon forward feels much more content with the 2 points his team earned last Sunday night. Draisaitl and teammate Connor Mc David combined for 11 points in an 8-5. McDavid scored a goal and added four assists, while Draisaitl had six assists. The German forward was one assist away from tying the single-game record for assist held by Wayne Gretzky and Billy Taylor Sr.

“I was not aware of that. It’s not something I pay too much observation to,” Draisaitl said.

Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner made 33 saves on 28 kicks in his NHL debut, earning his first career victory. Skinner was a 3rd– round selection of the oilers back in 2017.

“It was nice that we got up a couple and the guys in front of me were playing really good night. Evidently, they potted out eight goals. That evidently helped,” Skinner said.

Edmonton (5-6-0) now has back to back win under their belt for the first time his season. Meanwhile, the Senators (1-7-1) are on and eight-game winless streak after Sunday’s loss.

Ottawa Senators head coach Smith called his team ‘fragile’ after the loss and weep the fact they look ‘questionable’ Penalties, resulting in four power-play goals allowed.

Brady Tkackuk and Drake Bather son both scored a goal to bring the score to 5-3 before the end of the first quarter.

McDavid scored his long goal of the game 43 second in the second quarter. It was his teams fourth with the man advantages, as well his fourth point of the game. Darnell Nurse Kailer also scored in the quarter.

Draisaitl assisted on all three goals in the second period.

Ottawa Senators rookie Tim Stutzle scored his team’s fourth goal score of the night in the 3rd period. Seconds later, forward Austin Watson made it 8-5 with a shot from the point, making the score a little more respectable.
